Lake of Mornos River
Lake of Mornos river . In the heart of the mountainous province of Fokis, is located one of the most beautiful artificial lakes in Greece, the lake of the dam of Mornos River. Mornos, a river of Central Greece, which in ancient times was called Daphnous or Elethos, springs from the southern slopes of mount Oiti and has a total length of about 70 km. The lake was formed in 1979, when a dam was built to meet the water supply needs of Athens, and covered the village of Kallion which was transferred in another place above the shores of the lake. Numerous fjords on the lake shores compose a natural beautiful wild landscape, together with the surrounding mountains. The lake tour is a great daily excursion.
